Upcoming Plans for SEASON 2023!

I just received a weather warning for snow.... again.  Winter 2022-23 has been very white!

As I'm dreaming of the warm months ahead, I thought I'd better get our blog updated.

Fall of 2022, we added a playground.  We have learned over 16 years of teaching swimming lessons that there are often siblings that parents are trying to keep entertained while they await their turn in the pool.  In West Jordan, we had a playground for siblings.  It has taken us 6 years, but we now have a playground.

Same rules apply - use at your own risk and let's keep an eye on the kiddos no matter whether they are on the swingset, trampoline, or pool.  I'm a safety girl.  I don't think we can have too many caring, watchful adults.

We usually begin evening swim lessons in May and day time when school is out.  Watch for the swim schedule to be posted in April.

Session III begins Wednesday, July 20th! We have a spot or two in level II and III.

We will be starting our last session for the 2022 swim season.  Please contact Valerie at 801-414-9048 if you are interested in joining.  We will need to do a free placement test and can prorate based on number of lessons remaining in the 6 class session.

Dates are as follows:

Registration for Session II - Evenings with Trent opens this week!

The final class for Session I will be this Wednesday.  Current students will learn of their recommended level for Session II that night and be able to secure their spot in Session II if they wish.  Thursday registration will open for any others.

Free placement testing is available after Wednesday's class at 8:45 p.m.  If you haven't already received placement testing this season, we recommend you do so prior to Thursday as any open spots will go fast.

See you soon!

Evening Session I has filled up

After our first two days of placement testing, we are close to full for our Evening Session I with Trent and Kylee, provided that students fees are paid by the deadline.

We will be scheduling our evening lessons with Trent beginning Wednesday, April 21st.  Trent will be teaching Tuesdays and Thursdays in May and June between 6pm and 8pm.  Lessons will be 30 minutes each and scheduled first come first serve beginning April 21st.

In order to hold any spots on the schedule, you will need to complete the 2021 Registration Form and pay for the first month's lessons.

Summer 2020 Season Coming to a Close

Thank you for your interest in Little Flippers Swim Academy.   Because we recommend a minimum of 6 lessons so that our students have the time needed to become comfortable with and/or master applicable skills, we are no longer scheduling for summer 2020.

If you would like to be contacted when we have our 2021 Swim Schedule Available, please complete the 2021 Swim Season Registration Form

We have loved teaching our students to be safe in the water and have watched many go on to swim in local swim teams with out kids.  Have a safe school year and we look forward to seeing you in the future!

Valerie, Trent, Lexi (& McKenzi from far off Baton Rouge - returning for 2023 season)

Swim Update

Thank you for your interest in Little Flippers.  After a delay in getting our day instructor certified, Lexi has just completed her Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Training and begun teaching.

We have filled up our time slots between 8 and 10 am with the exception of dates when students are out of town.

Please email us at littleflippersswimacadey@gmail.com if you are interested in filling in these open dates.

If you are interested in being contacted if additional openings are scheduled, please email us at littleflippersswimacademy@gmail.com and (if you haven't already) complete the 2020 interest form.

Evening lessons are now full. Day times still on hold.

Our evening classes have filled up for anyone I have not talked to or confirmed placement.

We are still hoping that our day instructor will be able to get certified within the next 2-3 weeks, but can't schedule until we know that the class is a go.

Please proceed to the 2020 registration link (on Registration tab) if you are interested in day lessons weekday mornings.  It is anticipated that they will be offered Monday - Thursday between 8 and 11 am.

Thanks!

Summer 2020 Swim Season - And how the Pandemic will change things

May is almost half over and I am just getting a handle on what we will be offering for swim in 2020.

For the last 3 summers, Kenzi has offered lessons during the day.  This year, she will be out in the mission field, serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  Her original assignment was to Barcelona, Spain leaving June 2nd.  But 3 weeks into her Missionary Training at home, she received a reassignment to Baton Rouge, LA leaving the week of May 26th.

In past years, we have at times offered lessons in May, but with the pandemic and the last half of May having a daughter doing Missionary Training here at home, we feel waiting until June is the better option.

Our almost 17 year old daughter was scheduled to take the Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Course in April, but that class was put on hold because of the pandemic.  So - even though she is a great swimmer, has been on Skyridge HS swim team for two years and has helped her dad teach swim, we want her to have the specific training for teaching lessons before she starts taking students.  We are hoping to hear any day that she will be able to take the class.

And that brings us to Trent who has been teaching in the evenings after work for over 10 years now.  He will be taking a few students on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning in June from 6pm until 8pm.

With the need for continued social distancing, we feel that private lessons will be okay, but we will not be able to arrange semi-private lessons.  However, if 2 or 3 students in the same family are swimming at the same level, we are fine with them being grouped together.

We will update rules to reflect the current guidelines for social distancing and ask that you also follow these guidelines.  Do not come to class if you are running a fever, suspect you have Covid, or have been exposed to someone who is on quarantine.  Students may be accompanied by one parent/guardian over the age of 18.  In the event that other students are in the pool finishing up their lesson, please remain in your car until you see them exit.

I'm sure that we will be updating rules as things progress.  Thank you for your patience as we navigate this pandemic together!
